The Government Information Technology Executive Council (GITEC) was established in response to a June 28th, 1966, White House memorandum to provide a forum through which Senior Level Government and Industry Executives could share and collaborate on IT ideas, challenges and successes. GITEC merged with ATARC on May 31, 2018, following a decisive vote by government stakeholders. This collaborative decision united two like-minded non-profits with a shared vision. This merger has been crucial in addressing the technology challenges, as it came during a period when the COVID-19 pandemic necessitated significant shifts towards remote work and digital solutions. The integration of AI and DA has proven instrumental in supporting government agencies during this transition.

At ATARC, we proudly honor GITEC’s long legacy of innovation and leadership in federal IT. Building on decades of pioneering work, we continue to celebrate GITEC’s impact by hosting an annual event that brings together thought leaders, innovators, and decision-makers. This event is a cornerstone of our commitment to fostering collaboration and driving forward the future of government technology.

Absolutely! Charlottesville, VA offers plenty of attractions, restaurants, and activities for families to enjoy while you attend GITEC 2026 sessions. Your spouse and family are welcome to join us for our opening ceremonies, evening receptions, award announcements, and other networking activities throughout the event. If you are an invited speaker, your spouse is also welcome to attend your session alongside you.

• From I-64 (East or West) 
  • Exit 120 and follow 5th Street North 2 miles to the historic downtown. The hotel is located on the right.
• From Charlottesville Airport – 15 miles
  • Make a right off of Airport Road. Follow Route 29 South for 8 miles to Route 250 Bypass East. Drive two miles East on 250 Bypass. Turn right on McIntire Road. Go 7/10 mile to the second stoplight. Go through the stoplight and the hotel will be on the left. 
• Directions from Richmond International Airport – 80 miles 
  • Take 295 West to I-64 West. Stay on 64 West to Exit 120 Charlottesville/5th Street. Turn right from the exit ramp. Go approximately 3 miles or through five stop lights. The hotel is on the right.
• Directions from Reagan/National Airport – 115 miles 
  • Take Route 66 West for 22 miles until you get to the 29 South Exit. Follow 29 South until you reach the 250 Bypass East, then drive two miles. Turn right onto McIntire Road. Go 7/10 mile to the second stoplight. Go through the stoplight and the hotel is on the left.
• Directions from Washington Dulles Airport – 105 miles
  • From the airport, take 28 South to 29 South for 90 miles to Route 250 Bypass East. From Route 250 East, drive two miles East on 250 Bypass. Turn right onto McIntire Road. Go 7/10 mile to the second stoplight. Go through the stoplight and the hotel is on the left.
• Directions from the North – Via Route 29 South 
  • Take Route 29 South into Charlottesville to Route 250 Bypass East. Drive two miles East on 250 Bypass, and turn right onto McIntire Road. Go 7/10 mile to the second stop light. Go through the stoplight and the hotel is on the left.
• Directions from the South – Via Route 29 North
  • Take Route 29 North to Route 250 Bypass East (29 North will turn into 250 Bypass East). Drive two miles East on 250 Bypass, and turn right onto McIntire Road. Go 7/10 mile to the second stop light. Go through the stoplight and the hotel is on the left.
